Prototype of the Ransomes Bowlic

Prototype of what was to become the Ransomes Bowlic/Cellec

Ransomes photograph No. 8484 of the "Experimental cylinder-driven electric Lawn Mower".
Courtesy of Reading University's Rural History Centre  -  Vol. 20, 1934 photographic album.
The Ransomes Cellec was the export version of the Bowlic.   The machines were designed
for cutting fine turf on bowling greens and the like.    There was no drive to the land rolls nor
was there any special electric cable clearance mechanism - unlike the Ransomes Electras
Please note that the reproduced quality is poor as the photographs had to be photocopied and then scanned
